A motorcyclist died after crashing into a guardrail on southbound Interstate 5 in Thurston County early Saturday morning.
The motorcyclist has been identified by the Washington State Patrol as Harry W. Nettleton, 72, of Renton.
Nettleton was reportedly traveling southbound on I-5 just north of milepost 114 when he left the roadway and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder. He came to rest on the left shoulder.
Washington State Patrol responded to the crash at approximately 2:54 a.m. on Saturday, May 16. The roadway was blocked for two hours and nine minutes.
Nettleton was transported to Madigan Army Medical Center, where he was declared deceased.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Washington State Patrol has not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Nettleton was wearing a USDOT-complaint helmet at the time of the crash, according to a state patrol incident report.
