William Flerry recalls being a kid who loved to play the latest video games with his family at his cousin’s house, including “Super Mario Bros” and “Street Fighter.”
When he got his first job, he spent his first paycheck on a Nintendo, and his second was spent on all the games he wanted.
Flerry’s love of video games has developed into the Gamers Juggernaut, a state-of-the-art mobile arcade equipped with nine high-definition televisions and nine video game consoles. It can seat 20 gamers inside and another 16 outside, and each console has at least seven terabytes of memory storage.
Across the nine consoles, the Juggernaut features over 800 games within its library. It also has its own wifi on board, as well as heating and air conditioning and surround sound. Flerry and his fianceé, Sarah Baker, operate the business and recently relocated to Roy but have been running the mobile arcade since December of 2023.
Gamers Juggernaut is available for a variety of services, including birthday parties, general parties, corporate events, team tournaments and more. Each party or event is personalized to include whatever games the customers want to play.
“I love seeing when the kids come in and they’re like, ‘Oh my.’ That’s exactly what the younger me would do,” Flerry said. “Typically, we’ll do a questionnaire before every party or event to try to focus on the games that each individual is wanting to play because, with that many games, there’s no way to have everything all the time without a little bit of planning.”
The Gamers Juggernaut stemmed from Flerry’s experience working with a similar but less extensive business model with his family in Colorado before he branched out to create his own dream design. He said it took six to eight months to source the trailer and build all of the pieces to make his dream come to life.
“I’ve been in competitive sales for 30 years, and I always felt like if I had my own product and something that I could sell that I believed in, there was nothing that could stop me from selling it,” Flerry said. “I felt like, not only was I creating something that was unique, even though I know there are other game trucks, I was creating something that was elevated and had multiple applications.”
While the Gamers Juggernaut has had some success north of the Nisqually Valley, especially in Tacoma and at the Seattle International Auto Show, Flerry and Baker are still looking to establish a base in Roy and Yelm. Booking the Gamers Juggernaut comes with trip fees outside of a 20-mile radius, so they are willing to travel where there is interest. They’ve even traveled as far as Mukilteo, but they said they would like to provide their trailer to customers in Pierce and Thurston counties.
“We’d love to do some local community events. I know Yelm has some festivals and things that would be really cool to do and a great football culture,” Baker said.
The Juggernaut also offers consultations with schools or groups about setting up a mobile E-sports program. One of the most important offerings for Flerry, however, is an educational program, which introduces engaging and educational games to schools, daycare facilities and youth organizations.
“It’s a passion of mine to blend education and entertainment together and make learning fun,” Flerry said. “The idea was to invest in software that encourages that and supports K-12 comprehension, math, critical thinking and history and takes these games to schools.”
With the ongoing budget cuts in the Yelm Community Schools amid the loss of levy funds, Flerry and Baker believe their concept can help in the community’s time of need.
“Anything that we can do to help in the community, we want to be a part of the solution. We’d be happy to be a part of fundraisers,” Flerry said.
Flerry credited Baker for helping to put his ideas on the map and for marketing the Juggernaut to local communities.
“My fortune really didn’t change until I met this beautiful woman. When she came into my life, I really had no idea how to market it or build anything around it or even see all of the ideas that I had fully developed,” he said.
In the future, Flerry hopes to offer virtual reality gaming, adult party nights with streaming sporting events, movie nights, tailgating and more.
“We offer a fun and unforgettable celebration no matter what the occasion. We offer professionalism, and I think it shows in every event that we do … the level of detail that we go to make certain that your event is going to be amazing and be memorable,” Flerry said. “That’s important when you’re creating memories for your family and your kids to be able to give them that birthday that they remember forever and can’t stop talking about for weeks.”
