Local Art Gallery Sets Events to Celebrate the Holidays

Posted

Artisans at InGenius! Art Gallery and Boutique will be on hand to do art demonstrations and meet the community on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 27.

Co-owners Diego Fleitas and Andrea Levanti strive to keep the business “hyper-local,” with 30 artists and artisans hailing from Yelm, Chehalis, Lacey, Olympia, Rochester and Tumwater.

“The word ‘gallery’ should never make people shy away from walking through our door,” Levanti said in a news release. “That $1,500 original painting on our wall took the artist over 60 hours to create, but you can take home a 5x7 fine art print for $16, or a $4 fridge magnet to mail to someone special in a greeting card made by a local artist.”

Levanti said they want everyone to have access to high quality art in Yelm, where people can find unique, locally-made gifts for people.

InGenius! is also planning an event to complement Yelm holiday offerings.

On each of these Saturdays, shoppers will be given the opportunity to create their own handmade ornaments to hang on the InGenius! Tree. The events will be facilitated by gallery artists.

People can retrieve their ornaments when the gallery takes its tree down after the holidays.

The gallery also hosts several workshops each week, which continue to grow, stated the release. Workshops have included yarn pottery, acrylic painting and drawing classes.

A current initiative of the gallery involves the creation of intimate acoustic-music events, the release stated.

Virtual shopping for the business is available at the Facebook and Instagram handle, @ingeniusyelm, which can also be followed for more information about the upcoming events and workshops.

“We want to make it easy for people to buy special gifts without stress,” Fleitas said in the release.

InGenius! is located at 207 First St. S. in Yelm. It is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and by appointment. Call InGenius! at 360-999-9216 for more information.
