InGenius! Launches Summer Arts Market in Yelm

Posted

A local artisan gallery and boutique has kicked off a summer arts market that aims to infuse the heart of Yelm with more local art and live entertainment.

The InGenius! Summer Arts Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays in the green space between InGenius! and the skatepark on First Street in Yelm, located across from Yelm City Park.

The market will feature artists, artisans and musicians of all kinds through Labor Day weekend, stated a news release. The event will complement the Yelm Farmers Market and other events that are scheduled to take place at the park this summer.

“This town is already a great family-oriented destination for people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the I-5 corridor,” Andrea Levanti, the co-creator of InGenius!, said.  “Every day we meet people from the north and west of us who haven’t been to Yelm recently and are very impressed with its evolution.”

The artist booths will be easily accessible from the Yelm-Rainier-Tenino Trial.

In addition to the summer market, InGenius! established itself as a local arts hub that features a variety of classes and workshops every week. The artisan gallery and boutique’s events are open to kids and adults who want to learn skills like drawing, watercolor, acrylic and colored pencil.

“The broad range of experience of the InGenius! artists and artisans means you can also learn beading, weaving, macrame, pottery, jewelry-making, hand drum-making and Irish whistle-playing,” stated the release. “More classes are being created all the time.  For instance, stay tuned for Sip and Paint Your Own Wine Glass later this summer.”

InGenius! co-creator Diego Fleitas and Levanti’s goal is to make Yelm self-sufficient in every area including the arts. In the release, Fleitas said InGenius! has proven there’s an abundance of local talent as 45 artists and artisans joined the gallery and boutique in the nine months since it’s been open.

“The Summer Arts Market will offer even more fun for people who want to stay close to Yelm, as well as those visiting or passing through during the summer,” stated the release. “There’s even a growing arts supply section to save folks a trip to Lacey or Olympia for certain supplies.”
