In Loving Memory of  Victor Boyer: 1940-2021

Posted

Victor “Vic” A. Boyer Jr. was born on Feb. 22, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 7, 2021 in Olympia, Washington. Vic was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, teacher, mentor, role model, friend and all around great man. He was known for his gentle nature, sense of humor, generosity, compassion, and positivity.

His teaching career in Rainer, Washington, and in California spanned 45 and a half years and he served as an elementary teacher, a sports coach, a middle-and high-school band and choir director, and a music specialist. His band and choral performances, along with his winter programs, were legendary community events that celebrated and highlighted all his students’ talents.

Music was Vic’s lifelong ministry and an expression of his faith. He was a member of the choir at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and served as interim director for six months. He was proud to perform in the Capital City Chorus.

Vic’s passion for music was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Penny, and his children Steve (Maria), Karri (John), Victor Boyer III (Krysi), Joseph (Lokela), and Nathan (Becky); and the many grandchildren he loved so dearly, Luke, Avery, Annabel, Addison, Elliot, Caleb, Harper, Rowan, Quinton and Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1515 Harrison Ave. NW, Olympia, Washington. The church requests that all visitors over the age of 3 be masked. To watch the service online, go to www.gloriadeiolympia.org/Boyer-Memorial.

Vic’s wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the Olympia Union Gospel Mission or his favorite international charity Doctors without Borders.
