In Loving Memory of Joyce Dunn: 1964-2022

Joyce E. (Spivey) Dunn, of Olympia, Washington, passed away on May 7, 2022. She was born on April 4, 1964 to Lee and Sharon Spivey in Fort Hood, Texas. Joyce graduated from Yelm High School in 1982 and worked various jobs until she began working at Weyerhaeuser, where she worked for 25 years. In 2014, she began working in the property management division (PMD) for the Washington State Patrol. Joyce was a member and chair of the PMD safety team for many years and earned the 2019 Excellence in Safety Award. While working at Weyerhaeuser in the early 1990s, Joyce met the love of her life, Mark Dunn. They were married on July 30, 1994 and enjoyed many adventures together including camping, boating, traveling to Arizona, and just being with family and friends. Joyce is survived by her father Lee, son Shawn (Jenna) and granddaughter Merida Spivey; stepsons Nick and Adam Dunn; sister Cathy (David) Klontz; brother Alan (Dana) Spivey; and sister Kim Spivey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Sharon in 2019, and her beloved husband Mark on March 9, 2022. 

There will be a celebration of life for Joyce at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Rainier Sportsman’s Club on Alaska Street in Rainier, Washington. Please bring a potluck dish to share and your own beverages. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joyce and Mark’s name to the Washington State Police Canine Association – Retired Police Dog Medical Fund.
