In Loving Memory of Donna Jean Madigan: 1938-2022

Posted

Donna Jean Madigan was surrounded by loved ones as she passed away on Feb. 25, 2022 of natural causes at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington.

She was born Dec. 30, 1938 in Bisbee, Arizona to Robert Garnett Pruitt and Helen Eugenia Pierecy.

She attended Aberdeen and Yelm schools. Growing up, she loved to roller skate and play football with neighbor kids.

She was married to the late George Cullens, the late Ed White and is survived by her husband, Roger Madigan. She worked as a bartender and waitress locally and more recently worked at the Department of Labor and Industries.

She loved to shop, decorate for holidays, cook, bake, have family gatherings, and game nights with friends. Most of all she loved music, dance and enjoyed life. She never knew a stranger and loved to visit. A great day for her was to pack a lunch and hang at the lake with her family and friends. She loved watching her grandkids play sports. She was known as “Mama Donna,” not just to her kids but to family friends alike. She was a mother to many. Her greatest pride and joy was her children and grandchildren. Her heart and love was big. She was the centerpiece of our family.

She was a seamstress, liked doing crafts, took pride in her home and yard, and loved doing chores at home. She loved pretty and shiny things.

She is preceded by her parents Bert and Helen Jovanovich; father Robert Pruitt; brothers Thomas Dwayne Pruitt and Robert Allen Pruitt; daughter-in-law Janice Cullens and great-granddaughter Kennedi Hope Cutler.

She is survived by sisters Robin Wilson of Ocean Shores, Pamela Bryan and Kelli Jovanovich of Aberdeen; husband Roger Madigan of Yelm; children Dwayne Cullens of Yelm, Jerry Cullens of Yelm, Patty (Mark) Thompson of Yelm, Robert (Corrine) Cullens of Shelton, Timothy (Rebel) Cullens of Yelm, Pamela (Kyle) Conway of Roy, Shaun (Kristy) Madigan of Yelm, and Shantel (Jesse) Kellems of Yelm; 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Her celebration of life will be held at noon on April 30, 2022 at Lake Lawrence Lodge. It will be potluck-style and bring your own beverages.
