Delbert Lyle Lazelle, 90, passed away peacefully at home July 10, 2024. He was born April 16, 1934, in Olympia, Washington.He is survived by his daughters, Terese’ “Teri” (Leo) LeMoine, Yelm, Kimberley “Kim” (Bill) Sommerdorf, Raleigh, North Carolina, and “adopted” daughter, Lisa (Heath) Dickerson, McCleary; four granddaughters, Desiree, Ariel, Kalya and Nicole; and one great-granddaughter, Kayden. Also, one sister, Janet (Tom) Parker, of East Olympia, along with many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; a daughter, Tracey; brothers, Lloyd Lazelle, Donald Lazelle and Harold Lazelle; and parents, Warren and Bina Lazelle.Delbert graduated from Yelm High School in 1952. He worked briefly in logging and then joined the Marine Corps in 1954 and served until 1957, serving in Korea and Japan. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Warren-Bircher, in 1956. After his service in the Marine Corps, he became a journeyman carpenter until his retirement.Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling and running his small farm with beef cattle, horses, chickens and various dogs and cats. Del also enjoyed his garden and just being outside in nature. He was soft-spoken and had a dry sense of humor. He will be missed.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. July 29 at Mills and Mills, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, with a graveside service and reception following.
