Darlene Mercier, 90, a longtime resident of Yelm, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at her daughter Cheryl’s home in Amboy, Washington. She was born July 21, 1935, in Tacoma to Edward and Marie (Barlett) Dorris.
Darlene was married to August “Augie” Mercier on June 21, 1952, in Yelm. Darlene was a homemaker and later worked for Wilcox Farms in the egg processing plant. She enjoyed family activities, camping, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many school activities.
Surviving are daughters Kimberly Summers (Gary), Tumwater, and Cheryl Mercier (BJ), Amboy; brother Eddie Dorris, Sutherlin, Oregon; grandchildren Shannon, Jamie, Jason, Cody and Carly; and great-grandchildren Payton, Hayden, Baylee, Paxton and Easton.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Augie, in 1997 and daughter Janet Patrick in 2021. She shared six years with her friend and loving companion Doug Cameron.
Darlene made every holiday occasion very special for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her “Birthday Club” girlfriends for many years in Yelm and enjoyed a few margaritas along the way.
A graveside service will be held at Yelm Cemetery at a later date.
