In focus: Local students, alumni shine in Capital City 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Tenino

Numerous Lewis County and south Thurston County basketball stars from the past, present and future laced up their sneakers for the Capital City 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Parkside Elementary School in Tenino during the Oregon Trail Days on Saturday.

W.F. West High School graduate Seth Hoff won the 10-foot dunk contest, and Napavine High School incoming senior Beckett Landram was a finalist in the 8-foot dunk competition.

Rainier High School freshman Lexi Beckman and Tumwater High School freshman Malia Eggers were the lone area high school athletes to compete during the girls ninth and 10th grade 3-on-3 tournament. Chehalis Middle School Grace Eiswald and Nevaeh Perkins teamed up for the Summer Super Hoopers during the girls seventh and eighth grade category. 

As for alumni, recent Tenino graduate Austin Gonia played for the Wilcox Family Farm team in the men's competition, and Centralia High School graduate and former Centralia College Trailblazer Landon Kaut competed in the men's recreational category.



Parker Eiswald, 2024 W.F. West graduate and Lower Columbia College athlete, suited up for the PLA Elite team in the men's competition. Jelani Jones, Tumwater graduate and former South Puget Sound Community College hooper, also played in the men's competition. 

Tumwater graduate Aubrey Amendala and Tenino graduate Conleth Jackson competed in the coed group.

The 3-on-3 tournament concludes Sunday.
