Twelve batters came to the plate, nine reached base and the Pirates put up a seven-spot in the bottom of the sixth to separate themselves and secure a 9-3 C2BL victory over the Mountaineers on Tuesday night.
Trailing 3-2 entering the frame, Adna (14-1, 11-1 C2BL) tied the game on a Barron Luond RBI single and grabbed the lead thanks to Talan Guerrero run-scoring basehit. Cash Smith and Jack Pennington recorded two-run singles to extend the lead.
Elijah Sliva turned a double play to end the game. The Pirates scored a run in the first and fourth innings. The offense was led by Smith, Pennington and Jackson Bright all recorded two hits. On the mound, Brody Richards struck out eight in three innings of work.
Rainier (5-7, 5-7) took the lead in the fifth on Kaden Goodman crossing home on a wild pitch and Peyton Sheaffer roping an RBI double. Yazama Gurnsey had the other hit for the Mountaineers while also recording two stolen bases.
Adna opens a two-game series with arch-rival Napavine on Friday while Rainier takes on Winlock on Wednesday.
