Four former local WIAA football stars — Cooper Kupp, AC Davis High School in Yakima; Abraham Lucas, Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett; Efton Chism III, Monroe High School in Monroe; and Jack Westover, Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie — made history and competed in Super Bowl LX, the National Football League’s biggest game of the year.

The victorious Seahawks, Kupp and Lucas — joined by practice squad teammate Shane Lemieux, an offensive lineman and 2015 graduate of West Valley High School in Yakima — defeated the local New England Patriots Chism III and Westover, in Super Bowl LX by a score of 29-13.

Seahawks star veteran wide receiver, Kupp — who graduated from AC Davis in 2012 — had a stellar performance for Seattle in the Super Bowl. He played 78% of the game for Seattle’s offense, or 56 total snaps, which was the most by any receiver for the Seahawks.
Kupp also led the Seahawks in both receptions and receiving yards against the Patriots with six catches for 61 yards.

His teammate, Lucas, was part of an offensive line that played all 72 snaps, or 100% of the game, for the Seahawks offense in the Super Bowl. The 2017 graduate of Archbishop Murphy in 2017 — alongside his four fellow offensive linemen — allowed just one sack against the Patriots.

Additionally, Lucas and the offensive line helped pave the way for Kenneth Walker III, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of Super Bowl LX, who recorded over 160 total yards in the contest.

Inside the team’s front office, Chuck Arnold, a Curtis High School (University Place) graduate, has served as team president for the Seattle Seahawks since 2018.

Representing New England, Westover, a tight end and fullback, recorded five offensive snaps for the Patriots last Sunday. Though his usage on offense was limited, he seemingly found his stride and a solid role with New England’s special teams units, as he recorded 22 snaps in the Super Bowl on either kick off, kick return, punt or punt return.

Chism III, a former Eastern Washington University Eagle and 2020 graduate of Monroe, did not play in Super Bowl LX and was listed on the New England Patriots’ injury report as “out” prior to kickoff against the Seahawks.
