The Rainier High School girls and boys golf teams put six golfers into the district championships last week at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.
Of those, four will go on to state.

In the 2B District 4 Boys Golf Tournament, Rainier’s Josh Peralta and Thomas Sprouffske finished second and fourth overall to qualify for 2B state competition.

Peralta shot a 163 over the two-day tournament, five strokes behind first-place finisher Trevin Salme of Adna. Sprouffske finished with a 174.

Ten male golfers competed in the 2B Class District Tournament. The top four qualified for state.

On the girls’ side, Rainier’s Lily Peralta won the two-day event by 16 strokes, finishing with a 163. Marian Jackson finished with a 252, good for 11th place. Both advance to state competition.

Olivia Cotham-Mills and Marianna Gonzales also represented Rainier at the district tournament.

Eighteen female golfers competed in the tournament, which combined District 4 teams from both 1B and 2B. Of those, the top 12 qualified for the state tournament.

The WIAA state tournaments for 2B boys and 1B/2B girls will be held Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21, at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake.
