Five Rainier athletes named to all-league teams

Five Rainier High School student athletes earned 2024 Central 2B All-League honors, including three from the softball team and two from the baseball team.

Juniors Brooklynn Swenson and Keira Anderson both took home first-team honors for the second consecutive season, while freshman Ryleigh Cruse earned a second-team nod.

Junior Hunter Howell was named to the first team, and senior Johnny Boesch received second-team honors.



As of Tuesday, May 7, Swenson leads Rainier in batting average (.571), on-base percentage (.638), triples (six), home runs (six) and runs batted in (32). Anderson ranks just behind her teammate and fellow all-league honoree in most categories, including batting average (.540), home runs (three) and RBIs (28). Cruse is Rainier’s top ace, pitching 77 of the team’s 88 combined innings. She has struck out 66 batters and walked 58, while also posting three home runs and 17 RBIs at the plate.

Howell led all Mountaineers pitchers with 12 games played and nine starts, posting a 7.17 earned run average and recording a team-high 59 strikeouts. He was also Rainier’s top hitter with a .436 batting average and also paced the team with five doubles, three triples and 17 runs batted in. Boesch batted .355 with 11 RBIs while also making five appearances on the mound.
