A tree that fell onto power lines on state Route 510 near Southworth Elementary School caused a road closure for over three hours in Yelm the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 17, according to Washington State Patrol.

The road was closed from state Route 510 heading into Yelm from 4:11 a.m. and reopened around 7:43 a.m. while Puget Sound Energy cleaned the mess, WSP Public Information Officer John Dattilo told the Nisqually Valley News.

In an unrelated incident Tuesday morning, a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into a ditch around 1:30 a.m. in the same area as the fallen tree. No one was injured, and the road was not closed, Dattilo said.
