Family Storytime

Join the Yelm Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday for family storytime. The event includes music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The library is located at 210 Prairie Park St. NE in Yelm.

 

Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 13. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

 

Rainier Elementary Registration

The registration period for kindergarteners for the 2023-24 school year at Rainier Elementary School is open. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2023. Parents and guardians can pre-register their future kindergartener online at www.rainier.wednet.edu/domain/60. Click on the registration link to fill in the form. Staff from the school’s office will contact parents to confirm interest in their elementary program and will review the registration process and paperwork. Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Tenino Farmers Market 150th Jubilee Celebration

The Tenino Farmers Market is set for Saturday, July 15. The event is located in Tenino’s downtown historic district on Olympia Street South. Items such as flowers, baskets, vegetable starts, baked goods, farm-fresh produce, USDA meats and more will be available at the farmers market. The market takes place every Saturday through Sept. 30. The market has the following theme days scheduled: July 22 will celebrate Oregon Trail Days, Aug. 5 will honor National Farmers Market Week, Aug. 19 will be garlic day, and Sept. 30 will conclude the season during pumpkin day.

 

Yelm Farmers Market

The Yelm Farmers Market will take place Saturday, July 15. The market will be held at a new location in front of the Yelm Police Station, which is on McKenzie Street. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Saturday until Sept. 30.

 

“Becoming You” Ladies Event

Worthy Coffee Co. is hosting its “Becoming You” ladies event on Saturday, July 15 beginning at 6 p.m. The event welcomes “all ladies” according to Facebook, and will feature an evening of worship, inspiring testimonies and encouraging prayer. Worthy Coffee Co. is located at 9111 346th St. S, Roy, Wa.

Tenino Music Festival

The Tenino Music Festival is set for Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 at Tenino City Park. There are a plethora of musical acts scheduled for the event, and all proceeds go to local youth and athletics. Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally “Pre-Funk”

A “Pre-Funk” event the night before the annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Yelm City Park. The event will feature a beer garden, and aims to get the community excited for the annual barbecue rally.

Fourth Annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally

The fourth annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally is set for Saturday, July 22 at Yelm City Park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature various competitions including the Youth Burger Challenge, and the Amateur Andy’s competition. There will also be food trucks and a beer garden on-site, in addition to live musical performances.

 

DEFY: Showdown at the Mountain

DEFY Wrestling presents Showdown at the Mountain on Saturday, July 22 at the Eatonville Eagles Memorial Field. Proceeds from the event will benefit 10 year old Cataleya Castanon, who has been battling neurofibromatosis since she was a toddler. Second Annual Yelm Music Festival

The second annual Yelm Music Festival is set for Saturday, July 29 at Yelm City Park. The event is scheduled to run from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will feature a talent show, food, and different vendors. For those interested in participating in the talent show, call 253-370-3721.

 

Friday, Aug. 4

Jazz in the Park

The sixth annual Jazz in the Park event will return to Yelm City Park at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, and will also take place on Saturday, Aug. 5. Event organizers welcome attendees to join them for the event, which includes free admission, a beer and wine garden, and live jazz bands.

 

Sunday, Aug. 6

Bigelow House Museum Tour

The Bigelow House Museum will provide regular escorted tours on the first and second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Entrance fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and $2 for children. The museum is located at 918 Glass Ave. NE in Olympia.
