Following two highly successful sold-out shows in 2024, comedian Zane Lamprey will return to Yelm’s 507 Taproom and Filling Station on April 5 and April 6 to perform two comedic acts centered around drinking alcohol.

Bill DeVore, owner of Yelm’s 507 Taproom and Filling Station, said, after seeing how successful Lamprey’s shows were in 2024, he’s beyond excited to bring the comedian back to his establishment in spring of 2025.

“He was awesome. Last year was great. We sold out both shows and he was very impressed with how our venue was. He really appreciated the patrons that came in and the people of Yelm and how they build it up for him,” DeVore said. “So he called this about four months ago and said, ‘would you be willing to have us back?’ And we said, ‘absolutely.’ Knowing that we’re the only taproom that he uses, everybody else is a brewery. That kind of makes us feel a little special about that as well.”

DeVore said Lamprey is a good fit to perform at the taproom due to his style of comedy that’s focused on consumption of alcohol. The establishment’s owner also sees Lamprey as a good fit to perform at the taproom due to hosting over 200 attendants at both of Lamprey’s shows last year.

“That’s why he does all the breweries. He had those TV shows — Drinking Made Easy, Three Sheets, Four Sheets and Chuck — which were all based around drinking beer. So he’s gone all across the nation doing that, and now he’s doing his comedy show all across the nation and highlighting different breweries and taprooms in the areas that he goes to,” DeVore said. “So when he’s on stage, he drinks a lager or a light lager, and encourages everybody to participate with him.”

According to DeVore, those in attendance last year were happy to see a local comedy show featuring a comedian they have a sense of familiarity with. He noted the taproom has plans of evolving its live entertainment and even hosting shows on its outdoor patio once it’s finished being constructed.

“People were very happy that we were able to bring a mainstream comedian into town, and somebody they actually know and heard of or seen on TV. So that was a huge deal for us, and that’s what we really wanted to do is bring something different to Yelm that nobody else had done,” DeVore said. “We would love to be able to do it outside. So when we get our patio and everything done this summer, fencing in the whole back, if we could move the comedy show to a June or July timeframe, we could fit 400 or 500 people out there. So that would be our ultimate goal, and we’re gonna try to do different events throughout the year.”

In addition to Lamprey, DeVore said he’s reached out to several comedians that he described as being “very mainstream” to see what the cost of a show would be. He’s looking to bring something different to Yelm in the form of comedy.

In addition to Lamprey’s performances at the 507 Taproom on April 5 and April 6, local artist Dakota Poorman will perform acoustically at the establishment on Saturday, April 12, to celebrate a patron’s birthday.

“So he’s coming in, and I’m amazed that he hasn’t had a huge hit on the radio yet. He’s also coming back on Saturday, July 19, with his full band. We’ll have three bands that day in a brew festival as well. On April 12, it’s just first come, first served,” DeVore said. “With Zane, I would hurry up and get your tickets as soon as possible because they are selling out pretty quick. With Dakota, just know that he interacts with the crowd and he’s great with people and you can tell he loves what he does.”
