Clarus Eye Centre Set to Open Location in Yelm Medical Plaza

Posted

Clarus Eye Centre’s plan to serve Yelm and its surrounding communities has been in the works for years and now has become a reality.

While the main location for the eye center is in Lacey, its new location is located on the second floor of the Yelm Medical Plaza at 201 Tahoma Blvd. The new space will give more people access to optometric and general ophthalmic care.

“There is an unmet need for ophthalmic and optometric care in the Yelm and Nisqually communities,” said Steve Reck, the president of Clarus Eye Centre. “Many patients from the area see us in our Lacey office. We hope our new office at the Yelm Medical Plaza will provide improved access to care for these communities.”

The Clarus Eye Centre in Yelm is currently accepting patients for appointments beginning in July. It will feature two doctors at the location and support staff.

The office has been under construction for two months and went through a complete renovation so there are now five examination rooms, an optical dispensary, a contact lens instruction area, a diagnostic testing room, and a reception area.

Clarus Eye Centre in Yelm will be a fully integrated eye care system offering what Reck said is a wide range of eye care services. This can range from optometrists providing routine eye care to ophthalmologists providing services for complex medical and surgical conditions.

“We will be able to provide complete eye examinations, prescribe and dispense glasses and contact lenses, perform high-resolution, wide-angle retinal photography, visual field testing, diabetic eye examinations, screening exams for glaucoma and macular degeneration, as well as evaluation and treatment of most medical conditions involving the eyes and visual system,” Reck said.

Clarus Eye Centre will also offer fellowship-trained subspecialist ophthalmologists to manage conditions like corneal diseases.

“We also offer surgical treatments such as laser cataract surgery, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery, corneal surgery, LASIK, and refractive lens exchange,” Reck said.

Reck added the center’s “leading edge technology” can be used within the Clarus Eye Centre system for cataract surgery patients. That includes the Catalys Precision Laser system, the Light Adjustable Lens implant, and trifocal lens implants.

Surgery will be performed at its Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center in Lacey and the LASIK center, called Aurora LASIK, in Hawks Prairie.

“We strive to provide the highest quality medical and surgical eye care while treating patients and staff with kindness and respect,” Reck said. “We remain focused on delivering care with excellent customer service and hope to continue providing the full range of medical and surgical eye care to the people of the Yelm, Nisqually, and the  surrounding communities for many years to come.”
