Beavers get in win column over Kodiaks

Monday night might not have been the prettiest for the Tenino girls basketball team, but the Beavers did enough to break the goose egg, beating Columbia Adventist 34-23.

“One way or another, we needed a victory,” Tenino coach Scott Ashmore said.

The Beavers (1-5) finished 16 for 67 from the field, including going 0 for 15 from beyond the arc, and went a ghastly 2 for 15 from the free-throw line.

But on the other side of the ball, they held the Kodiaks to four points in single digits in all four quarters, including two at just four, and went into the fourth quarter up by two despite getting shut out for the entire third.

“I like what I see, it’s just a matter of we have to get consistent,” Ashmore said.

Brianna Asay logged 12 points, finishing as the only player on either team to get into double figures. Chloe Grayless and Kiyah Goodwin both added eight.

Tenino is set to host Castle Rock in an Evergreen/TriCo showdown on Friday.
