Beavers Fall to Forks to End Season

The Tenino boys soccer team saw its season come to an end in a quiet way Wednesday, falling to Forks 2-0.

Had the Beavers managed a win, they would have finished in a tie for the fourth and final district spot in the 1A Evergreen League, and would have taken on either Hoquiam or Raymond-South Bend for a spot in the district tournament proper.

But Forks, which had won just three matches coming into the day’s action on the Black Top, had other ideas. The Spartans struck first midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Chasing a goal with their season on the line, the Beavers struggled to string much in the way of possession together, and while the Spartans didn’t sustain much more themselves, they found the insurance goal they needed in the second half to seal it.

Tenino is set to graduate nine seniors from this year’s team: Alex Reichelderfer, Brock Maurer, Cody Maynard, David Espinoza, Dontel Weiler-Ball, Jeffrey Bert, Marshal Akaluti, Max Craig, and Zach Keech.
