TENINO — Friday night was a big night for several Tenino High School boys track and field seniors in their final meet on their home track in the second annual Tenino Twilight Relays, as well as for Winlock's Victoria Sancho.

The junior secured a school record-breaking and event-winning triple jump of 34 feet and 1.25 inches. She also won the 100-meter dash at 12.97 seconds.

A senior night celebration for Tenino's 11 seniors was sandwiched between numerous personal-best performances by the Beavers veterans. Carson Schall competed in his first 100-meter dash since his freshman year and finished in 11.47 seconds to place third, with junior Austin Johnson coming right behind him in fourth at 11.57, a PR.

Tristan Von Bargen took home an individual event title in the 1,600 meters and helped the distance medley relay team, along with Porter Mowry, Sevrin Mickelson and Justin Schlesner, secure first. Seniors Guy Lowery and Kaeden Iselin clinched PRs in shot put to finish second and fourth, respectively. Sophomore Parker Minerich bounced back from a low score at the Oregon Relays to take third and won the discus event at 139 feet, 7 inches.

Rowdie Tafoya rounded out the top seniors with a new lifetime best in the discus by nearly two feet at 105-8, giving him a fourth-place finish.

The Tenino seniors weren’t the only ones to have all the fun, as sophomore Josiah Marzolf smashed his previous best time in the 1,600 meters by nearly eight seconds to come in third. Mickelson couldn’t quite match his blazing 1,600-meter debut on March 17 at 5 minutes and 13 seconds, but he settled for 5:24 and a fourth-place finish.

Freshman Tucker Matheson won his first high jump title at 5-8, and sophomore Ash Lowery earned his second top-three mark in javelin with a PR of 108-2. The boys team finished second in team scoring with 115 points, only trailing Clover Park’s 130 points.

The Tenino girls took home two titles in the 4x800 relay and the sprint medley relay. Senior Holly Thoren notched her second straight sub-14-second 100-meter time and set a new PR at 13.92 to finish fourth. Sophomore Kendall Bowe established a new PR in javelin for the sixth straight meet, dating back to last April, taking her biggest leap yet from 80-5 on March 22 to 87-9 in a runner-up effort Friday.

Overall, the Beaver girls finished fifth out of six teams with 43 points, and Winlock came in sixth with 36 points. Kendyl Guenther earned third in the high jump and ninth in the long jump, pulling off a PR in the latter.

Winlock’s boys relay teams stole the show, as the sprint medley relay squad of Landen Cline, Leonel Cardenas, Gavon Cordner and Xavier Sancho-Carrillo cruised to a first-place victory. The 4x800 and distance medley relay teams also took third. Individually, Arean Thapa earned bragging rights for the top finisher, taking sixth in shot put and seventh in discus. Geovanni Sanchez joined Thapa as the only other top-10 placer, coming in eighth in discus and 10th in javelin.
