Annual Roy Rodeo packed for Labor Day weekend

The second of two annual Roy Rodeos brought out fans of the sport from throughout the state on Saturday, Aug. 30, and Sunday, Aug. 31, as local cowboys and cowgirls competed for prize money and bragging rights.

The first Roy Rodeo of 2025 occurred on May 31 and June 1. The competitions at the second rodeo of the year included bareback riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, calf roping, cow milking, novice bareback riding, novice bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and more.

Local results
Lily Hallett, Tenino, placed second overall in the barrel racing competition with a time of 17.71 seconds to earn $977.76.




Melody Hale, also of Tenino, earned fourth place in the breakaway roping competition to earn $828.38.

Clayton Frohman, Yelm, won fourth place in the cow milking competition to collect $393.82.

Travis Erb, Roy, also placed fourth as the team roping header to earn $611.10, while Brett Hale collected $829.35 after a third-place finish as team roping heeler.
