For over 60 years, the Roy Pioneer Rodeo has drawn crowds to the small Nisqually Valley town of Roy and cemented its place as the community’s longest standing tradition and annual summer attraction.
With the attraction set to return this summer on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, the Roy Pioneer Rodeo yet again promises a weekend of tough rodeo competition amongst cowboys and cowgirls from all throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The gates at the Roy Pioneer Rodeo fairgrounds will open at 11:30 a.m. on each day of the event. The event itself will begin at 1:30 p.m. on both Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7. The fairground recommends that attendees of the event plan to arrive to its location — found at 8710 Higgins Greig Road in Roy — with plenty of time to spare in order to ensure tickets and a spot to sit in the bleachers.
Prices of the annual Roy Pioneer Rodeo include $15 for attendees aged 13 through 60, $10 for military and seniors aged 60 and older and $5 for children ages six through 12. Children five-years old and younger are admitted to the event for free.
There will be several areas to purchase commodities and concessions at the fairground, including a souvenir stand to purchase items like t-shirts, hoodies, snapback hats, cowboy hats, lanyards and more. There is also a food shack to purchase snacks like hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, french fries and refreshments like coffee, soda, iced tea, lemonade and ice cream.
There will also be a covered beer garden, with seating, for attendees 21 years and older with valid identification.
Additionally, there is free parking available for attendees on the rodeo grounds with a section offered for handicap drivers. Service animals are welcome to the event.
