The comments are interesting, but irrelevant. There is internet available even in rural areas. It's called Xfinity. But it's expensive. Whether you like it or not, in a free market a company has to make a profit or it will die. If Xfinity dies tens of thousands of people will be unemployed. However, the internet access exists almost everywhere in this country. I assume that LL Hauer is concerned about wifi internet access and that's another story. And Phil B. can only find a far left web site (one that has a dog in the fight so will write what fits) to quote to justify his argument (another reason that the internet is not the paradise that everybody seems to think it is - any idiot can write a web site and get published). In fact, Phil's argument supports the conclusion of this article - that government involvement in free enterprise is seldom good. There are some justification for government subsidies - farms often need help in order to keep running, particularly during droughts and crop failures. But, for the most part, government interference is extremely detrimental. Why? Because those laws are generally written by people who have absolutely no knowledge of the subject whatsoever, but it becomes law. Or, they are written by some large corporation to whom the legislator is beholden in order to gain an unfair advantage in the marketplace.
