127731 Ordinance No 1010 CITY OF ROY, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 1010 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROY, PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ROY CITY CODE SECTION 1-6-6 REGARDING CITY HALL HOURS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PUBLICATION; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Roy has established working hours and hours that City Hall is open to the public, codified at Roy City Code Section 1-6-6; and WHEREAS, staff have identified that residents request access to the services provided by City Hall through extended hours, to allow greater access earlier and later on weekdays; WHEREAS, accordingly, the City believes shifting hours to a ten hour, four day a week model with extended open City Hall hours will preserve lawful working hours for employees while ensuring the needs of the residents are met; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it is in the best interests of the City and its residents to adopt extended City Hall hours and modified working hours for the City of Roy; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Roy, Washington, do ordain as follows: Section 1. Amendment. Roy City Code Section 3-1-2, Expenditures Limited, Approval, is hereby amended to read as follows: 1-6-6 WORKING HOURS; CITY HALL HOURS: \\ F. The City Hall office will be open from seven thirty (7:30) A.M. until five (5:00) P.M., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Occasionally, it will be necessary to close the office temporarily for meal breaks or in order to attend to city business. G. The City Hall office will allow viewing of historical documentation from seven thirty (7:30) A.M. until five (5:00) P.M., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with a limit of two (2) guests per viewing which must be scheduled with the city clerk treasurer in conjunction with available staff or volunteer schedules. Occasionally it may be necessary to deny requests due to staff shortages, training, or facility scheduling conflicts. SECTION 2. Severability. Should any portion of this ordinance be held to be unconstitutional or unlawful by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance. SECTION 3. Publication. This Ordinance shall be published by an approved summary consisting of the title. SECTION 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect five days after publication, as provided by law.
