Pacific Mountain Workforce Development, or PacMtn, announced on Sept. 30 it is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from Boeing, which addresses employment gaps for military personnel and their families through equitable access to family-wage careers in manufacturing at Boeing.
PacMtn is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a workforce system that supports business, industry and all levels of employers or job seekers, according to its media release.
PacMtn, partnered with Thurston County Chamber of Commerce, Joint Base Lewis McChord SkillBridge/Career Skills Program Administration, South Seattle College and South Puget Sound Community College, aims to bolster the Military Transition program by forging stronger ties with Boeing’s Workforce Development Team, according to its media release.
The Thurston County Chamber, with the Boeing Workforce Development Team, will expand the Aviation Pathways Program to include hands-on Boeing skill development and mentorship experiences. The program will focus on a new career pathway recruitment effort with Bates Technical College to address various workforce shortages.
“The private/public partnership is the cornerstone of success for programs like this,” PacMtn Workforce Development CEO William Westmoreland said. “Boeing’s grant empowers our military community, creating pathways to high-quality jobs benefiting veterans and the aerospace industry.”
