The ACU Foundation will host the Clues & Brews Pub Crawl in Yelm on May 6 to raise funds for its philanthropic reach.
The event promises an all-day experience filled with camaraderie, libations, snacks, and a little mystery, as participants enjoy a fun-filled day strolling through Yelm, finding clues in each bar, and trying to solve a mystery inspired by the classic board game “Clue.”
Dan Nicholson, the ACU Foundation’s president, said the idea of the pub crawl came from the committee’s desire to create a fun event that could raise funds for a good cause.
“A few of our committee members love true crime, so we decided why not take a spin at the board game we played as kids?” Nicholson said.
Eight locations will participate in the Clues & Brews Pub Crawl, which starts at 10:30 a.m. They include Uptown Lounge, The Local, Bertoglio’s Pizza, 507 Taproom & Filling Station, Yelm Prairie Lanes, The Quarter Mile, Farrelli’s Pizza Co. and the Tahoma Valley Golf Course.
The event will include raffles throughout the day, a T-shirt, and a shuttle service provided by Prestige Senior Living Rosemont to help participants who need a break along the way.
“Finding the clues in each bar should be fun for all and a way to take a pub crawl up a notch to a new level,” Nicholson said.
The ACU Foundation was created in 2018 to enhance ACU’s philanthropic reach. Since its inception, the foundation has raised an average of $60,000 annually to support the military and communities around Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
ACU Foundation’s board members Dan Nicholson, Wayne McCarten, Amber Young, Karen Macomb and Shelley Nicholson organized the event.
“Putting an event like this together … is a lot of work, but we are happy to do it when the end result is raising money for such a worthy foundation,” Nicholson said. “Our event committee is small, but mighty.”
The Local has sponsored the beer mugs, while Bliss Experience has sponsored the lanyards that all attendees will wear. The lanyards will let participating bars know who to give drink specials and snacks to.
